Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how A17LAB ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the TextSnap browser extension and the a17lab.com/textsnap website (together, the "Service"). We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the Service.

1. What the extension does

TextSnap lets you pause a video, recognize the on-screen text (OCR), and copy it. When you activate recognition on a paused video, the extension captures a single still image of the current video frame and sends it to our OCR server to extract the text. The extension does not record video, audio, or browsing activity.

2. Information we process

3. What we do not collect

We do not collect your browsing history, the contents of pages you visit, your clipboard, video or audio recordings, or any special categories of personal data. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. How we use information

5. Payment processing

Purchases are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. Your payment details (card numbers, billing information) are handled by Paddle and are never received or stored by us. Paddle's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.

6. Data retention

Captured frame images are not retained after processing. The free-usage count associated with your device identifier, and records linking a license key to a purchase, are retained for as long as needed to operate the Service. Transient server logs are kept only for a short period.

7. Third parties

We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service — namely Paddle (payments) and our hosting provider — and only as needed for those purposes, or where required by law.

8. Your choices

You can stop all data processing by removing the extension. You may contact us to request deletion of data associated with your license key or device identifier. Because frame images are not stored, there is nothing to delete on that front.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
