Terms of Use
The short version: use the app lawfully, your documents remain yours, and you should check important results yourself.
Using the app
PDF Scanner (“the app”) is made by a17lab (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you control, under these terms and the rules of Google Play.
Your content
Everything you scan, import or create in the app remains yours. It is stored on your phone, we have no copy of it, and we cannot recover it for you. Uninstalling the app deletes it, and the app does not back it up, so export anything you want to keep.
You are responsible for what you scan, copy, sign and share. Use the app only for documents you have the right to use. Copying identity documents, money or other official papers can be restricted by law where you live, and a copy made with the app is not an official document. A signature added in the app is an image, not a certified electronic signature.
Free to use
The app is free to download and use. It has no ads and no in-app purchases.
Accuracy of results
Text recognition, translation, the checks on links in scanned codes and the words flagged in Export to Word are automated, and they can be wrong or incomplete. A link that shows no warning is not guaranteed to be safe. Review the results before you rely on them, especially for legal, medical, financial or official purposes.
Third-party services and software
The app uses services from Google, such as Google Play and ML Kit, which have their own terms. The app also includes open-source software, listed in Settings › About › Open-source licenses, which is covered by its own licenses.
What you may not do
Don’t use the app to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights. Don’t copy, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law or an open-source license allows it.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, a17lab is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost profits or lost documents, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Changes to the app and these terms
We may update the app and these terms. If we change these terms, we will update this page and its effective date. If you keep using the app after that, the updated terms apply.
