Privacy First: ByeDistraction is designed with your privacy as the top priority. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Everything stays on your Mac.

Nguyen Tam built ByeDistraction as a privacy-focused productivity application for macOS. This app is provided free of charge and is intended for use as described.

Information Collection and Use

No Data Collection

ByeDistraction does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:

No account creation or login required
No cloud synchronization
No analytics or tracking
No third-party services or SDKs
No advertisements
No email collection
No usage statistics sent to servers

Data Stored Locally

All data created by ByeDistraction is stored exclusively on your Mac using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

Schedules: Your blocking schedules (name, time ranges, active days)
Blocked Apps: The list of applications you choose to block
Block History: Timestamps of when apps were blocked (for statistics)

This data is stored in your Mac's local storage at:
~/Library/Containers/[bundle-id]/Data/Library/Application Support/

You have complete control: You can delete all data at any time through Settings > Data > Clear All Data.

Permissions Used

ByeDistraction requires the following macOS permissions to function:

App Termination: To automatically close blocked applications when they're launched during active schedules
File System Access: To scan your /Applications folder to show you which apps are installed (data never leaves your Mac)

These permissions are used only for the app's core functionality and do not involve any data transmission.

Third-Party Services

ByeDistraction does NOT use any third-party services, including:

No analytics services (no OneSignal, Amplitude, Google Analytics, etc.)
No crash reporting services
No advertising networks
No cloud storage providers

Log Data

ByeDistraction does not collect or transmit any log data. Any diagnostic logs generated are stored locally on your Mac for debugging purposes and are never sent to external servers.

Cookies

As a native macOS application, ByeDistraction does not use cookies or any web tracking technologies.

Security

Since all your data is stored locally on your Mac and never transmitted over the internet, the security of your data is protected by your macOS user account and file system permissions. We recommend keeping your Mac secure with:

Strong user account password
FileVault encryption enabled
Regular macOS security updates

Links to Other Sites

ByeDistraction may contain links to external websites (such as our support documentation). These external sites are not operated by us, and we have no control over their privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party sites you visit.

Children's Privacy

ByeDistraction does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children's personal information.

Open Source

ByeDistraction's source code is available for review, allowing you to verify our privacy claims. You can inspect exactly how the app works and confirm that no data collection occurs.
